Year 4
Our focus on Ready, Respectful and Safe ensures that Year 4 is a safe learning environment in which the children can flourish and grow as learners and as individuals. We develop a ‘can do’ attitude and ensure that when children start learning new things they have a positive attitude and are not disheartened if they ‘can’t do it – yet!’
Our core values of Nurture, Aspire and Achieve are the threads that run through the school, and we continue to build on these throughout Year 4.
Our curriculum is broad and varied: we learn about the Egyptians and how their amazing civilisation lasted so long, about Jersey history – as well as picking up a smattering of Jerriais along the way. We have the opportunity to learn an instrument for a term with the Music Service. In the summer term we have an overnight stay at the Scout Centre. As well as this we learn about Buddhism, levers and pulleys, electricity, water in the environment and much, much more.
This year is a vital year for the children as they develop as independent readers and firm up on key maths concepts – we would like children to read at home and to practice their times tables every night!
