Year 3
Our aim in Year 3 is to encourage children to love learning! Learning about the world around them, and about themselves. Our core values, Nurture, Inspire, Achieve, are at the heart of St Mary’s School. Pupils aim to show these values through being Ready to learn in different environments, Respectful to everyone in our community, and being Safe at all times. In Year 3 pupils make that transition into Key Stage 2 and encounter more challenge in their learning and more expectation on their independence and ability to apply the skills they have learned already. We develop our skills and attitudes through a wide range of individual and collaborative activities.
Throughout Year 3, we inspire pupils’ learning through a wide range of topics including: time travel back to the prehistoric Stone Age and Iron Age; virtually visiting extraordinary volcanoes from around the world; investigating mighty magnets through experiments and 3D models making; developing our knowledge and understanding of the Hindu religion and their beliefs. Each topic has fun, practical learning experiences including, creating a 3D dolmen, exploding volcanoes, creating magnetic cranes and creating mandalas. We also take part in a number of visits including to La Hougue Bie and to Jersey Dairy.
In Year 3, we aim high, and encourage each other to be the very best we can be!
