Welcome to St Mary’s Primary School
Year 4 have been exploring pneumatics as they made their own Moving Monsters in Design Technology.
Could anyone use barely used car seats or storage for a baby's room? Please let me know by Monday 22nd if you think you'd like it. Some grandparents are down sizing and are loathe to throw them away if someone could use them. All gone now.
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow! We hope you had a great Easter break.
I came across this post from the Green Room Club. As many of you may already know, their Easter Musical is Shrek. The group is putting on a specially adapted performance for children who may struggle with the sensory experience of a full blown production. This production will have altered lighting and sound so that children are not overwhelmed. It's quite exciting to think that children who may have been unable to access the theatre because it can be overstimulating will have the opportunity to enjoy this production.
Last week we had a theatre in education performance for some of our KS2 children which was done in collaboration with Jersey Coastguard and ArtsHouse Jersey. Written by Sophie Martin, the play educates children on the importance of beach and sea safety. The performance has taken the place of the usual coastguard "chat" as a new way of putting the important message across. Thank you for a fantastic, fun and educational session!
Thank you to everyone who created an Easter bonnet or accessory! So many beautiful and imaginative creations. The competition team had a really tricky job picking the winners. All the Easter creations will be on display in the library until the end of term. Also thank you to Channel Islands Co-operative for the vouchers which were used to buy prizes for the winner in each class
Author Jennie Jewell visited Year 4 & 5 today to share her picture book about the water cycle - 'Drip the Drop'.
Thank you to everyone who very generously donated tins and dried food on Red Nose Day last Friday. Today, we took the donations to the foodbank at Grace Trust in town, where it was gratefully received. We were welcomed inside and told that the number of people using the food bank has gone up by 30% in the last year due to the cost of living.
If you're looking for something to do over Easter, check out this action at the Community Centre!
Just a reminder about our Easter competition... You have until this Thursday (21st) to finish your creations.
Maths Club - There will be no maths club today for Year 6.
First and third in both classes and a bunch of commended photographs! Well done to everyone that entered! Mrs Webb and Mrs Yeboah will hand out prizes, ribbons and photos later in the week
