Welcome to St Mary’s Primary School
Foundation to Year 5 enjoyed the most sensational concert by the Jersey Music Service staff. We were all clapping and toe tapping, and singing along (in all the right places!). Thank you to Graham Cox and his excellent team - a 22 piece orchestra in our library was a rare treat! Watch out for a couple of the video clips. Find out more about your child learning to play an instrument at www.jms.je
We are designers. Year 5 have been designing and creating their own cam toys. We have learnt many new skills and vocabulary. We have been using junior hacksaws in a pistol grip, 3 jaw chucks, g clamps and bench hooks. We evaluated our finished toys, which is a very important part of the process. Most of all, we had a lot of fun.
Last Thursday Year 5 and 6 had a visit from the RNLI lifeguards. We learnt all about how to stay safe on the beach by understanding the different flags, as well as saftey in the water.
Nursery have been learning about Jersey this week. We had a trip around the coast to visit some famous landmarks and we finished the week by baking our own loaf of cabbage bread!
Year 2 have been busy sewing. We have learnt how to do overstitching and created our first puppets using a template. We have now begun to design and create our own puppets from scratch!
Year 4 were bug hunting in science today and then worked in groups to create classification keys.
Year 3 have not just been playing either Lego (fun though that may be!). They have been linking their Lego work to the computer and programming movements into their projects.
Year 5 have been undertaking their Bikeability Level 2 training out on the road. The have learnt how to use ABCDD to assess their bike's readiness for the road. They have been learning about observation and positioning, communication and deciding who has priority, and making sure they have the time and space to manoeuvre safely. They're doing a really good job! Well done, Year 5.
Year 4 have all woken up in good spirits and started the day with some some den building - excellent teamwork!
Year 4 are having a fabulous time at the Scout Hut. They have had a fun nature walk and done some creative crown making at Frances Le Sueur centre this morning followed by bird spotting at Wetland centre and classification keys in the sand. This afternoon they have had beach time, playing rounders and creating imaginative sand sculpture monsters before dinner.
Year 4 have been exploring pneumatics as they made their own Moving Monsters in Design Technology.
Could anyone use barely used car seats or storage for a baby's room? Please let me know by Monday 22nd if you think you'd like it. Some grandparents are down sizing and are loathe to throw them away if someone could use them. All gone now.
